The rookie acquired via the Lux trade is making an impact, showing a hot start in High-A.

No one would mistake Charles Davalan for Shohei Ohtani, but that doesn't mean this 2025 draft pick can't occasionally send balls over the fence.

Or, as in this case, hit two home runs in a single game—and do it again.

The Dodgers' eighth-ranked farm prospect delivered his second two-homer game of the month and a season-high three hits for the High-A Great Lakes Loons, though the team fell 8-10 to Beloit at ABC Supply Stadium.

After the first pitch, Davalan seized the fourth offering from Marlins farm pitcher Carson Laws, driving it over the right-center field wall for a leadoff home run in the first inning—his first career leadoff homer. The 22-year-old outfielder nearly replicated his first at-bat in the third inning, again homering to right-center for his second blast of the game. In the sixth, he added an infield single to second base for his third hit.

Davalan also had a two-homer game on April 5, which marked his first two hits of the season.

This performance extends Davalan's strong opening over the first three weeks of the new season. Selected in the 41st round last year out of Arkansas, the 5-foot-9, 190-pound player has seamlessly translated his college success to the pros, recording hits in seven of eight games at the California League A-level, with 17 hits in 34 at-bats, a .500 average, five extra-base hits, and ten RBI.

Born in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, but attending high school in Florida, Davalan has shown no signs of slowing down entering the 2026 season. With a slightly crouched stance and a compact, powerful swing, he remains a steady source of offense at the top of the Loons' lineup.

The outfielder has reached base in 12 of 15 games, posting a slash line of .321/.415/.607 with eight extra-base hits, 11 RBI, and ten runs scored. Davalan has been particularly hot recently, recording at least two hits in three consecutive games—his seventh multi-hit game this season. After two straight hitless games last Saturday dropped his average to .250, he has gone 7-for-12 over the last three games with three RBI and two walks.

Davalan's early-season data trajectory strikingly resembles his final collegiate season. In his lone year after transferring from Florida Gulf Coast University to Arkansas, he batted .346 with 14 home runs and a .994 OPS, earning All-American Second Team and SEC First Team honors.

Davalan is a high-contact, low-strikeout hitter and was the Dodgers' second selection in the 2025 draft. That pick came from the January 2025 trade of Gavin Lux to the Cincinnati Reds, which also brought Mike Sirota (the Dodgers' fourth-ranked farm prospect) to the West Coast.

Interestingly, in the draft, Davalan was selected right after his Arkansas teammate Zach Root (the Dodgers' 12th-ranked farm prospect), who was taken by the Dodgers at pick No. 40.
