Li Haoyu delivered a key hit against Cole, helping the Tigers beat the Yankees 5-3 for their fourth straight win.

Li Haoyu not only got the start today but also delivered a solid punch against Yankees' ace Gerrit Cole. He finished 1-for-3 with one run scored, helping the Detroit Tigers defeat the New York Yankees 5-3 at home for a sharp four-game sweep.

In the bottom of the second, with two outs and a runner on second, Li was retired by Cole on strikes. However, when they faced off again in the bottom of the fourth, he quickly turned the tables, lacing a slider from Cole on the outer edge into a right-field line-drive single. Teammate Kevin McGonigle then followed with a double, allowing Li to race home and score the Tigers' fourth run.

In the bottom of the fifth, with two outs and a runner on first, Li chased a bad pitch and flew out to right field. In the bottom of the eighth, with a runner on first, he executed a sacrifice bunt and nearly beat out the throw to pitcher Ryan Yarbrough, but the Yankees challenged the call and it was overturned, denying him an infield hit.

After this game, Li Haoyu has played 40 games this season, logging 112 plate appearances with a batting average of .234, on-base percentage of .261, slugging percentage of .355, and an OPS of .616.

The Tigers' lineup showed no mercy against Cole today, forcing him to throw 89 pitches over just 4.1 innings before being pulled. Despite recording five strikeouts and only one walk, Cole was tagged for nine hits and five runs, facing trouble throughout.

In the bottom of the third, the Tigers launched a fierce rally. Zach McKinstry led off with a triple, and the team sent eight batters to the plate in the inning, scoring three runs on four hits and a walk, seizing control of the game. After adding another run in the fourth, Riley Greene led off the fifth with a solo home run, sending Cole to the loss column for his second defeat (two wins) since returning this year.

On the Tigers' side, starter Framber Valdez was rock solid. He pitched six innings, racking up eight strikeouts and two walks while allowing just four hits and one run, earning his fourth win of the season (five losses). Although the Yankees cut the deficit to two runs in the top of the seventh on a two-run homer by Amed Rosario, the Tigers' bullpen shut the door, securing a 5-3 victory. This marked the Tigers' second four-game winning streak in June, showing strong momentum.
