On April 19 Beijing time, according to Rockets reporter Vanessa Richardson, Durant will miss the first playoff game due to a knee contusion. Previously, Durant's status was listed as questionable, but it was downgraded to out before the game. This means the Rockets will be missing a key scoring option in the opening game, facing the Lakers with a depleted roster. Durant joins VanVleet and Adams on the list of absent players, while on the Lakers side, Doncic and Reaves are also sidelined due to injuries.

Durant has arrived at the arena (see photo above), but the highly anticipated James vs. Durant matchup loses a major highlight due to Durant's absence. This means Amen Thompson and Sengun need to step up and shoulder more responsibility.

Rockets head coach Udoka said in a pre-game interview that Durant hit an awkward spot above the patellar tendon in his knee during previous training. Udoka stated that imaging results showed no serious issue, but Durant's knee pain is very noticeable and difficult to bend at certain angles. It is currently uncertain how long he will be out.
According to earlier reports by noted journalist Shams, Durant injured his knee colliding with a teammate during training and underwent MRI. Initially, hopes were high that he could still play in G1, but ultimately, contrary to expectations, the Rockets decided to be cautious and rest Durant for the first game.
Today at 08:30, the Rockets will face the Lakers away. Durant played 78 regular-season games this season, averaging 26 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 4.8 assists.
