Playing on the road in Game 5, the Knicks turned the tables on the Spurs again, winning 94-90 and clinching the championship 4-1 in the Finals, ending a 53-year drought.
In that game, Brunson delivered a supernatural performance, scoring 45 points on 27 field goal attempts, making him the undisputed new "King of New York."

Over the entire Finals, Brunson averaged 32.6 points per game, setting a new record for NBA point guards, and naturally was unanimously voted FMVP, the long-coveted major award.

Brunson was born on August 31, 1996, stands 1.88 meters tall with a 1.93-meter wingspan, and was the third pick in the second round of the 2018 draft.
He had played four seasons for the Mavericks. In the summer of 2022, after contract extension talks broke down, he took his talents to New York for a four-year, $104 million deal, marking a turning point in his career.

To date, in his four seasons with the Knicks, Brunson has led the team to the playoffs every year: twice falling in the second round of the Eastern Conference, once in the Eastern Conference Finals, and once reaching the pinnacle of the league. Individually, he has amassed countless honors, including championships, Finals MVPs, All-Star selections, and All-NBA Team nods, all of which he has now fully collected.
