Up to three years and $182 million! The Lakers will never offer LeBron a max contract? Their offer will still outclass the Warriors.

On June 18 Beijing time, Lakers beat reporter Dave McMenamin reported that LeBron James is currently vacationing overseas. He will travel with his 2016 Cavaliers championship core to England and Scotland, and finally to Saint-Tropez on the French Riviera for a 10-year reunion celebration of their title.

LeBron's agent and Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul will wait until after James's entire trip to discuss whether he will play a 24th season and, if he chooses to return, what feasible signing options are available.

Last week, Rich Paul said, "Don't believe any outside rumors. I haven't had a deep conversation with him about this yet. I stated at the end of the season that I would respect his and his family's decision, and it will ultimately be finalized by the whole family together." Paul also revealed on a show that 10 to 12 teams have already asked him about LeBron's signing intentions.

But over half of league sources agree that if LeBron decides to continue playing, the Lakers remain his most likely destination, with the Golden State Warriors as the second realistic option.

Given the Warriors' current salary structure, they can only offer James a $15.1 million non-taxpayer mid-level exception, which is $37 million less than his salary last season. Theoretically, the Lakers could offer James a three-year, $182 million max contract, but everyone within the league believes the Lakers will never offer anything close to that figure.

However, the Lakers can offer a contract in the $20-30 million range, which far surpasses what the Warriors can provide. ; at the same time, they can also re-sign Reaves and use the remaining cap space to further strengthen the roster.

When James exercises his final-year contract option with the Lakers in June 2025, Paul told ESPN reporter Shams that chasing a championship remains LeBron's top priority.

"LeBron wants to compete for a title," Paul said at the time. "He knows the Lakers are looking toward a future rebuild and understands that plan, but he needs a team that truly has a chance to win."

From late February to late March, the Lakers went on a 16-2 run, proving that James can still play at an elite level; however, injuries derailed the team's full playoff potential, preventing them from showing their complete strength.

A source close to James told ESPN, "LeBron is very willing to partner with Luka Doncic." Therefore, JJ Redick's desire for him to play a supporting role alongside Doncic will not become an obstacle to James's decision.

After the season, James said in an interview that whether he continues playing will be decided by his family; one thing that cannot be overlooked is that his eldest son Bronny holds a partially guaranteed contract with the Lakers for next season.
