Expected to fetch $3 million! Anunoby's game-winning shot ball to be auctioned: Knicks championship core collectible

The ball that sealed the most classic victory in recent New York basketball history will be put up for auction starting July 1, Sotheby’s announced on June 22 (Beijing time). It is the very basketball used by OG Anunoby during his clutch putback in Game 4 of the 2026 NBA Finals.

Sotheby’s has not yet released an estimated price, but senior sports business analyst Darren Rovell predicts that the basketball could sell for as much as $3 million once bidding begins.

This basketball is expected to attract extremely high attention, as the shot helped the Knicks win their first championship in 53 years, making it arguably the most significant bucket in New York basketball history.

Game 4 was played at Madison Square Garden. With the Knicks trailing the San Antonio Spurs 105-106 in the final moments, a loss would have tied the series at 2-2. In the closing seconds, Jalen Brunson forced up a three-pointer under tight defense from Victor Wembanyama.

The ball bounced off the rim, and Anunoby, who had no one boxing him out, crashed the paint and tipped it in for the game-winning basket with just 1.2 seconds remaining.

Right before this game-winner, Anunoby had blocked a controversial layup attempt by De'Aaron Fox on the defensive end — a basket that would have given the Spurs a three-point lead had it gone in.

Thanks to Anunoby's heroic performance, the Knicks narrowly won 107-106.

This comeback set the record for the largest comeback in NBA Finals history: the Knicks trailed by as many as 29 points in the third quarter before storming back to complete the upset.

The victory gave the Knicks a commanding 3-1 series lead, avoiding the need to travel to San Antonio with the series tied. Days later, the Knicks eliminated the Spurs to claim their first championship since 1973.

The auction includes a full set of Finals memorabilia, including the game-winning basketball, jerseys worn by players during the championship run, the championship net, and other collectibles.

In terms of estimated value, Anunoby's game-winning basketball is expected to be the centerpiece of the entire high-priced auction.
