Blockbuster 2-for-9 trade completed! Giannis Antetokounmpo joins Heat to team up with Bam Adebayo; Bucks receive Herro and other assets

On June 23, Beijing time, per Shams' report citing ESPN sources, the Milwaukee Bucks have sent their all-time franchise player Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis to the Miami Heat, receiving Tyler Herro, Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Yakchionis, along with three first-round selections (including the 13th pick in the upcoming draft), one swap option, and one second-round pick.

The Heat will send two unprotected first-round picks (2031 and 2033), this year's 13th overall pick, a 2030 pick swap right, and a 2033 second-round pick to the Bucks.

Sources indicate that this deal is a direct swap between the two teams with no third party involved; however, the Heat and Bucks will officially file the trade on July 6, and there remains a possibility of expanding the trade package or adding other players during that period.

Recently, both the Heat and the Celtics were pursuing Giannis, emerging as the two finalists in the race. After a fierce competition, the Heat's offer proved more convincing to the Bucks, and Giannis has decided to join forces with Adebayo for the 2026-27 season.

Giannis entered the NBA as the 15th overall pick in the 2013 draft, spending 13 seasons with the Bucks. He averages 24.1 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game in the regular season, and has surpassed 21,500 total points in regular season and playoffs combined, making him a rare dual-threat big man who can handle the ball, facilitate, attack the basket, and protect the rim.

In the 2025-26 season, he played only 36 games due to injury, averaging 27.6 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 5.4 assists. He maintained elite two-way production with interior scoring and outside playmaking, and despite the team's ups and downs, his individual consistency kept him firmly among the superstar tier.

His trophy case is remarkable: 2-time NBA MVP, 1-time Finals MVP, 1-time Defensive Player of the Year — becoming the first player since Hakeem Olajuwon to win both MVP and DPOY in the same season. In 2021, he led the Bucks to their second championship in 50 years, scoring 50 points, grabbing 14 rebounds, and blocking 5 shots in Game 6 of the Finals, silencing doubts about his playoff performance. He also earned Most Improved Player, All-Star Game MVP, In-Season Tournament champion and MVP, 10 All-Star selections, 7 All-NBA First Team nods, 4 All-Defensive First Team honors, and a spot on the NBA 75th Anniversary Team.

From a street vendor in a Greek slum to the face of the league, Giannis has refined his game through discipline year after year, overcoming early shooting weaknesses to consistently post dominant numbers of 27+ points, 10+ rebounds, and 5+ assists. Holding MVP, DPOY, and FMVP — three core accolades — Giannis is firmly established among the greatest power forwards in history. His performance with his new team is highly anticipated.
