OFFICIAL: 'Demigod' Giannis joins Miami Heat, leaving Milwaukee Bucks after 13 years of commitment.

The initial blockbuster of the NBA 2026 transfer window has been unleashed, with Giannis Antetokounmpo now joining forces with Bam Adebayo on the Miami Heat.

One of the biggest trade deals NBA has just been officially activated as the Milwaukee Bucks agreed to trade the superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Miami Heat, ending the Greek player's 13-year journey in Wisconsin.

According to reporter Shams Charania (ESPN), the Bucks will send Antetokounmpo along with Bobby Portis to Miami. In return, the Heat will give Milwaukee a valuable package including Tyler Herro, Kel'el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakucionis, 3 second-round picks in the NBA Draft, and 1 future second-round pick.

The trade is expected to be completed on July 6 and currently has the potential to expand if additional partners join before official approval.

Giannis Antetokounmpo leaves as a legend of the Milwaukee Bucks.

For the Miami Heat, this is seen as a landmark deal that President Pat Riley has pursued for years. Antetokounmpo will team up with Bam Adebayo to form a new star duo, bringing the Heat back into the Eastern Conference championship race after a disappointing season.

Meanwhile, the Milwaukee Bucks were forced to make a difficult decision after months of negotiations. According to sources, the "Demigod" had repeatedly informed the team's management of his desire to leave since mid-2025. The 31-year-old player believed that parting ways would be the best solution for both sides after several seasons of not meeting expectations.

Since winning the NBA championship in 2021, the Bucks have consistently disappointed in the playoffs. The team has won only one playoff series in the last four seasons, and even failed to qualify for the playoffs last season after finishing with a poor record of 32 wins and 50 losses.

On the flip side, the Bucks will gain the services of sharpshooter Tyler Herro along with three other quality players.

Antetokounmpo leaves Milwaukee as a legend. He has won the NBA MVP award twice, the Defensive Player of the Year award once, and was the key factor in helping the Bucks end a 50-year championship drought in 2021.

Despite playing only 36 games in the most recent season due to injury, the Greek star still maintained impressive averages of 27.6 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 5.4 assists per game.
