ASIAD 2026 has not officially opened

Although competitions have already begun, the opening ceremony of the 20th Asian Games will take place on September 19 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. Some team sports are scheduled early to allow sufficient time for group stages and knockout rounds.

Men's basketball runs from September 10 to 20. In the coming days, the schedule will become busier as football, volleyball, and many other sports start their events. After the opening ceremony, numerous Olympic sports and Vietnam's strong disciplines will also begin competition.

September 12 is therefore a relatively light day at ASIAD 2026. However, the four men's basketball matches remain noteworthy as the group stage enters a decisive phase where rankings and advantages before the quarterfinals are at stake.
