Retired and Becoming a Boss! 41-Year-Old Chris Paul Launches a New Media Company: Creating Original Shows to Open a New Chapter

On September 11, Beijing time, 41-year-old NBA star Chris Paul, who recently announced his retirement, has just founded a new athlete-led media company in partnership with GeniusSports.

Paul said, "I'm thrilled to announce that I'm starting a new chapter with GeniusSports, OhhDip!!! Productions, and Words+Pictures. I've always believed that those closest to the game have a unique perspective on the details, split-second decisions, and moments that decide the outcome of a game. Now we have the opportunity to bring that perspective directly to fans in a whole new way."

"By combining creator-driven storytelling with GeniusSports' data (which I've been using for over a decade!), artificial intelligence, and technology, we're creating original shows that help fans watch, understand, and feel sports in a different way. Thank you to Mark Locke, Connor Schell, and all the partners involved for believing in our vision."

An official statement said that the new company will develop original sports shows and content IP from the perspective of athletes and creators, combining their industry resources and professional knowledge with GeniusSports' official game data, artificial intelligence, and technological capabilities. The first show will be hosted by Chris Paul, allowing fans to watch, understand, and feel the sport in a new way through the lens of this basketball legend.

The company will also build a larger network of athletes and creators to produce content that can be scaled across social media, digital platforms, and other media channels.

Paul has been using GeniusSports technology for over a decade. Throughout his NBA career, he relied on this performance analysis tool to study his own condition, opponents' characteristics, and overall league trends. Paul is a 12-time NBA All-Star, four-time All-NBA First Team selection, two-time Olympic gold medalist, and ranks second all-time in career assists and steals.

"The future of sports media belongs to those who can bring fans closer to the game," Paul said. "Athletes can read the on-court details, split-second decisions, and moments that fans might not necessarily see. By partnering with GeniusSports, we can combine the player's perspective with powerful data and technology to educate fans and tell sports stories in a whole new way."

"Fans increasingly want to hear directly from the athletes who know the sport best," said GeniusSports CEO Mark Locke. "Chris has a unique perspective, deep connections in the sports world, and a genuine curiosity about how technology can help tell stories. Combining these strengths with GeniusSports' data, AI, technology, and media distribution capabilities, we have the opportunity to build a sports media company with a truly distinctive style, while creating a powerful new platform for brands."

The new company plans to launch its first batch of original shows led by Chris Paul in the fourth quarter of 2026, produced using GeniusSports' official sports data and technology. As the company expands, it will introduce more athletes, creators, content IPs, and brand partners.
