Hello everyone, I'm Brother Xiaodi.

Tomorrow, Honor of Kings will update to Season S44, bringing a special new item: the Formless Artifact. It grants different stats and bonus effects after using an ultimate based on the hero's class—for example, tanks get area magic damage and slow, warriors get extra attack and healing, assassins get cooldown reduction and movement speed, mages get cooldown reduction, marksmen get attack speed and flying sword damage, and support mages get bonus healing. Many might think that since the bonus triggers on ultimate, a shorter cooldown would allow frequent procs—but is that true?

The item has a built-in cooldown.

Many players focus on the different class effects but overlook a common trait: the Formless Artifact has an internal cooldown of 20 seconds. This means that even for heroes like Luna, who can use their ultimate over 10 times within 20 seconds, the effect only triggers once. So the idea that a shorter ultimate cooldown makes the item more suitable is a major misunderstanding—that route just doesn't work.

So which heroes are actually a good fit? Based on previous testing, here are a few that work very well.

Suitable Heroes

Kongkong'er. This might surprise many. First, note that Kongkong'er doesn't benefit from the support mage's heal effect; instead, it suits the tank support's slow and magic damage effects.

Kongkong'er is a great match because his ultimate creates clones that mimic his actions. This means when he activates his ultimate, the effect triggers three times simultaneously, greatly enhancing his crowd control and damage potential. It feels like a must-have item for the new season.

Zhuge Liang. His suitability isn't because his ultimate resets on kill, but due to his charge mechanic. The Formless Artifact grants Zhuge Liang magic attributes, cooldown reduction, and continuous cooldown reduction. Since Zhuge Liang's first and second skills are both charge-based, he can unleash all three stacks of his first skill and two stacks of his second skill before a team fight, then after using his ultimate, quickly refresh his first and second skill cooldowns to fully recharge them again. This is a huge boost. In fact, the effect goes even further—since the cooldown reduction lasts 5 seconds, he can also use skills during the refresh process, creating more opportunities to recharge. Within 5 seconds, he can refresh 6–7 times, almost giving a no-cooldown feel.

This applies not only to Zhuge Liang but to any mage with a charge mechanic, as long as their ultimate cooldown isn't too long. For other heroes, the cooldown reduction effectively works once, but under a charge mechanic, it essentially triggers three times.

Of course, the true suitability will only be known after testing once the item goes live tomorrow. But overall, this item could have a huge impact on the new season—definitely worth looking forward to!

That's all for today. If you found it helpful, feel free to give a like. If you have anything to say, ask, or want to see, leave a comment—I'll read them all!
