Hello everyone, I’m Game Xiaodi.
King of Glory has been around for 11 years, currently boasting over 130 heroes and more than 800 skins, which is no small feat. Recently, a friend asked me: if a player started playing from the very beginning, could they unlock all heroes and ensure each hero has at least one skin (regardless of quality) without spending any real money?

As an old player who started when the game launched, I have some authority on this topic. First, let’s talk about heroes: more than 130 heroes can be collected without spending a single cent. No problem at all, especially after some rule changes in recent years, it’s become even easier.

For example, Zhao Yun used to require a 60-point top-up to claim, but later the game changed it to a multi-hero selection, so Zhao Yun became obtainable through other channels without payment. Ao Yin, the Year of the Dragon collector hero, currently has no free way to get him except through the gift book, but when he first launched, limited point vouchers could be used, so free acquisition was possible. Ying Zheng was originally a point-purchase exclusive hero, but after limited point voucher events were introduced, players could get him for free. Wu Zetian requires a Glory Crystal from the Lucky Draw, which is rare, but the points needed for draws are constantly given through events, so with patience, she can be obtained for free.
As for skins, it’s currently impossible to achieve the goal for every hero without paying. Without considering quality, only the new hero Lu Yana and the Baron-lane hero Charlotte are problematic. The new hero doesn’t have a skin yet, so that’s not a big deal—one will come eventually for free.

I’m sure many know that most heroes have 288-point common skins, and newly released heroes also have 488-point elite skins. These can be exchanged for free in the Skin Fragment Shop, especially since it’s now permanent, making free acquisition much simpler. This covers more than half of the heroes, not even counting those that are given away for free as welfare skins.
Some older heroes like A-Ke or Wu Zetian have skins that cost 888 points minimum due to their quality, but they can still be exchanged for free in the Skin Fragment Shop, including some that later got upgraded visually (e.g., Daji’s Maid Coffee, Zhen Ji’s Ice Dance).

A special case is Eileen: her Valkyrie skin, after a revamp, can be redeemed for free in the Treasure Pavilion, and last year she received a free elite skin directly. Also, the SNK heroes—Mai Shiranui’s “Charming”, Nakoruru’s “Evening Glow”, and Haohmaru’s “Shura”—all have an 888-point epic skin as their cheapest option, but limited point voucher events can make them free. The only exception is Charlotte: her “Eternal Day” is also an 888-point epic, but it was never added to the limited point voucher shop. During the sixth anniversary, almost all direct-sale skins could be exchanged, but Charlotte hadn’t been released yet. As for her legendary skin “Floating Nightmare”, that’s out of the question.

Of course, if we look beyond in-game events, “Eternal Day” might still be obtainable for free. If you’re interested, next time I can share which heroes can’t guarantee at least one free epic skin.
That’s all for now. If you enjoyed this, feel free to give a like. If you have anything to say, ask, or want to see, leave a comment below—I’ll read them all~
