Hello everyone, I'm Youxi Xiaodi.
Marksman players must know this feeling well: assassins are always the scariest role because they constantly target you. Most of the time you have almost no room to outplay them and need a teammate to peel for you. If you face them alone, you usually lose. A typical example is Sun Wukong—he locks you down with his ultimate, then unleashes a burst combo, and a squishy marksman is done for. However, there are also marksmen who give Sun Wukong a headache. Let's talk about them in this episode.

As everyone knows, the marksman who fears physical assassins the least is Yu Ji. Her second skill negates all physical damage, putting every physical assassin on equal footing once it's activated. Sun Wukong is especially hard-countered by this.
Why? Sun Wukong's core playstyle is to land three strikes and retreat, requiring extreme burst in a very short time. Yu Ji's physical immunity perfectly counters this burst, making all of his damage useless. That's when Yu Ji turns the tables.

First, her ultimate can lock down enemies with a stun effect, which prevents Sun Wukong from escaping after using his skills. Moreover, after using her ultimate, Yu Ji's basic attacks become faster, dealing more damage. Even if Sun Wukong is skilled at using his leap to escape, after taking this combo he will either die or be left severely wounded. If he's low on health, Yu Ji's first skill can finish him off since it deals very high damage and can kill most low-health targets.
Besides Yu Ji, the hero that can also somewhat counter Sun Wukong is probably Di Renjie. Di Renjie's advantages are completely different, and there are three points:
First, he is tanky enough. Most marksmen are squishy and afraid of high burst, but Di Renjie is an exception. Players often say Di Renjie is a true warrior. His typical build uses on-hit effect items plus two defensive items. The on-hit build itself gives some bonus health, making him much tankier than crit-build marksmen. The two defensive items further boost his survivability. So under equal gold conditions, Sun Wukong's three strikes may not even kill Di Renjie.

Second, his ultimate provides crowd control. Di Renjie's ultimate is actually very effective against tanks, but it works well against assassins too since they always have some resistances. Once it lands, follow up with basic attacks, and their health drops quickly. The ultimate also has a control effect—though short, it's enough for a basic-attack-reliant hero. If you have the red buff or have built Frostbite, you can stick to them with basic attacks until they are defeated.
Third, his second skill can cleanse crowd control. The usual Sun Wukong combo is to start with his second skill to store a strike, then use the enhanced basic attack, quickly followed by his ultimate control and first skill. Most marksmen can't handle this because they can't escape in time. But Di Renjie can—his second skill removes control effects. Combined with his tanky build, he can fire his ultimate to counterattack. At that point, the hit rate is also high since they are very close.

What do you all think? Besides these two, which other marksman can defeat Sun Wukong in a 1v1?
