Speaking after the 0-1 defeat against Viettel, coach Le Quang Tai could not hide his regret that his players had a decent game but lacked sharpness at decisive moments.
On the evening of April 19 at Hang Day Stadium, HAGL lost to Viettel with a score of 0-1. In reality, against a strong opponent, the Mountain City team's players fought resiliently and only conceded a goal near the end of the match.
After the match, coach Le Quang Tai admitted:“Before the game, we knew this would be an extremely difficult match. The HAGL players followed the tactics well, maintained formation spacing, and created clear opportunities. However, football is like that; we lacked luck at decisive moments to convert chances into goals.”, coach Le Quang Tai stated.
Evaluating the opponent, coach Le Quang Tai frankly acknowledged the difference: “They are a team with squad depth and evenly distributed player quality. Viettel knows how to control the match tempo even when we applied pressure. The conceded goal came from a momentary lapse of concentration; it is a costly lesson we must deeply learn from.”
The loss leaves HAGL "stuck" at 11th place in the standings, thus only 6 points above the bottom team Da Nang. As the league enters its final stages, this position cannot yet assure HAGL of avoiding relegation.
Nevertheless, HAGL's captain still offered encouragement to his players after their full-effort performance: “I have nothing to blame the players for. They played with the highest spirit, fighting until the final seconds. We will quickly stabilize mentally and focus on preparing for the next match. The road ahead is still long, and the whole team needs to improve finishing ability to achieve better results.”
In the next round, HAGL will return home to host Hai Phong Club. The match takes place at 5:00 PM on April 24.
