MU seeks the most sought-after 'raw gem' of South American football

MU is preparing to submit a formal offer worth 40 million euros as a fixed transfer fee for the young talent Eduardo Conceicao of Palmeiras, while additional bonuses remain undetermined.

The English club has initiated preliminary contacts and is now moving to formalize the offer, thereby entering a race already joined by Man City and Barcelona. Both clubs are in advanced negotiation stages, making the competition for the signature of the 16-year-old increasingly fierce.

However, Palmeiras maintains a firm stance and expects a higher fee. The Brazilian club hopes the deal will reach at least 40 million euros and potentially increase through add-ons, though the final decision may depend on other squad transfer movements.

Previously, an offer from Newcastle United worth 25 million euros plus 15 million euros in bonuses was rejected by Palmeiras. This indicates the Brazilian club is being very cautious in valuing their young talent seen as the next "raw gem."

Another key factor relates to the future of the 22-year-old midfielder Allan, a regular starter under coach Abel Ferreira and one of the most trusted players following an impressive 2025 season.

Napoli recently had a 35 million euro offer for Allan rejected, and the potential sale of this player could directly influence Palmeiras's stance on the Conceicao deal. If Allan departs, the Brazilian club might be more financially relaxed and willing to delay selling the 16-year-old star.

Meanwhile, Man City remains one of the most active pursuers and has established a strong position in negotiations. Barcelona is also increasing its interest and may even hold a certain advantage due to the appeal of sporting director Deco. He directly contacted Palmeiras's academy coordinator João Paulo Sampaio as part of the strategy to approach the player.

Additionally, Paris Saint-Germain is closely monitoring the situation, though they are opting for a more cautious strategy and waiting for developments in negotiations before making specific moves.

Regarding the player, Conceicao's representatives have met with several European clubs, while his family has also traveled to some countries, including England and France, to assess potential destinations.

Conceicao is represented by the agency DSA Sports run by Adriano Ribeiro, along with Douglas Sousa – the father of young talent Endrick. The player's side is expected to consider both financial factors and the professional project before making a final decision.

Recently, Conceicao represented the Brazilian national team at the South American U17 championship held in Paraguay, where he wore the number 10 shirt. The player scored two goals and provided two assists over five matches, helping Brazil finish in third place. After the tournament, he is expected to begin integrating with Palmeiras's first team to gain experience at the professional level.

At 16 years and four months old, Conceicao could become the third youngest player to debut for Palmeiras, after only Endrick (16 years two months) and Rodrigo Taddei (16 years three months), and even younger than Estêvão, who debuted at 16 years eight months.

Within Palmeiras, Conceicao is seen as a unique talent with a development path distinct from recent stars. João Paulo Sampaio notes: Endrick and Estevao were noticed from age 11, while Eduardo only began receiving significant attention now, and precisely the "unpredictability" of his growth ceiling is viewed positively.

Former Palmeiras U20 coach, now assistant for Brazil U20, Lucas Andrade, also provided a more detailed assessment of the young player: Conceicao is an attacking midfielder with good dribbling ability, can play on the left but is most effective centrally in the number 10 role.
