Coach Troussier is set to reunite with an indispensable assistant in the Vietnam national team.

Should he come back to Vietnam for work, Coach Troussier is highly likely to reunite with language assistant Xuân Bách.

A reliable source indicates that Coach Philippe Troussier may return to Vietnam soon, but not to lead the national team or a professional club. The most suitable destination for the French strategist is likely youth training, where he previously left a significant mark and where the work aligns with his football philosophy.

Language assistant Hoàng Xuân Bách, who worked very effectively with Troussier at PVF and the Vietnam national team, has just bid farewell to Bac Ninh Club in the First Division. It is probable that Xuân Bách will continue to accompany the 1955-born coach in a new role if the comeback plan proceeds.

The person replacing Xuân Bách at Bac Ninh is Coach Nguyễn Hoàng Lân. Mr. Lân was appointed by the Guyana Football Federation as assistant coach for the national team and head coach of Guyana U20 in March, but after a short period, he soon parted ways to return to Vietnam for a new assignment.

Previously, Troussier worked at PVF Center from 2018 to 2021 and concurrently coached the Vietnam U20 team around 2019–2020. His most notable achievement was helping Vietnam U20 hold Japan U20 to a 0-0 draw in the qualifiers, thereby securing a spot in the 2021 AFC U20 Asian Cup finals, though the tournament was later canceled due to the pandemic.

Nevertheless, the likelihood of Troussier's return is not considered very high. About half a year ago, he declined an offer from a V.League club despite attractive terms. Moreover, major training centers like PVF have now stabilized their personnel, making the opportunity for a comeback not truly wide open.

During his tenure coaching Vietnam U23 and the national team from 2023 to early 2024, he did not achieve the greatest expectation of bringing Vietnamese football closer to the World Cup. However, he still left a mark in youth development by boldly giving opportunities to players like Khuất Văn Khang, Nguyễn Thái Sơn, and Nguyễn Đình Bắc, laying a significant foundation for the future.
