Laos U17 receives a "bonus shower" after a historic victory, generating significant momentum before the 2026 Southeast Asian U17 semifinals.
The historic victory over Thailand U17 not only secured Laos U17 a spot in the 2026 Southeast Asian U17 semifinals but also delivered a major morale boost. Immediately after the match, the team received a "bonus shower" from numerous domestic organizations and individuals.
By defeating their long-standing rival in a decisive match, Laos U17 not only clinched the top spot in Group B but also directly eliminated Thailand from the tournament. This is considered one of the most memorable milestones for Laos youth football in recent years.
The total bonus amount received by Laos U17 reached approximately 450 million Kip, equivalent to over 537 million Vietnamese Dong. The Laos Football Federation (LFF) contributed 405 million Kip (over 483.5 million Dong), accounting for the majority of the total.
Additionally, the Salavanh Province Football Federation awarded 20 million Kip (about 24 million Dong), the Laos Youth Center contributed 10 million Kip (about 12 million Dong). The Laos Ministry of Education and Sports also rewarded an extra 15 million Kip (about 18 million Dong) to encourage the entire team.
Notably, Madam Bo Pijika Bunkwang – President of Vientiane United Club – immediately awarded a hot bonus of 50 million Kip (about 60 million Vietnamese Dong) for this achievement. The collective support from various parties demonstrates high expectations for the young generation of Laos football.
In the semifinals, Laos U17 will face Malaysia U17 in a match considered evenly balanced.
