Vietnam national team has already 'won' two statistics in the Southeast Asian tournament before the final match.

The 2-1 victory over Australia U17 in the semifinals not only brought Vietnam U17 into the final of the 2026 Southeast Asia U17 Championship, but also helped the red-shirt team establish the most impressive tournament statistics.

In the semifinal match on the evening of April 22, Vietnam U17 continued to demonstrate their resilience by overcoming a strong opponent, Australia. Despite conceding an early goal, Coach Roland's players fought tenaciously, scoring two consecutive goals to secure a 2-1 victory, thereby earning a spot in the final against Malaysia U17.

Not only impressing in spirit, Vietnam U17 also stands out in professional statistics. By the end of the semifinals, the team coached by the Vietnamese manager has scored a total of 16 goals, equal to Australia U17, the team also possessing the strongest offense in the tournament. However, the major difference lies in defensive capability, as Vietnam U17 has only conceded exactly one single goal, while Australia U17 has conceded two goals, both scored by Vietnamese players.

Earlier, in the group stage, Vietnam U17 demonstrated superior strength by leading Group A with 7 points after three matches. The red-shirt team successively defeated Malaysia U17 4-0, demolished Timor-Leste 10-0, and drew 0-0 with Indonesia. After three matches, Vietnam U17 scored up to 14 goals and did not concede any, a statistic showing balance between offense and defense.

Compared to other teams, Vietnam U17's performance is extremely impressive. Australia U17 scored 15 goals in the group stage and increased the total to 16 after the semifinals, but conceded more goals. Meanwhile, other teams such as Laos (7 goals), Thailand (7 goals), or Philippines (6 goals) are far behind in scoring ability.

Not only efficient in attack, Vietnam U17's defense also shows remarkably solidity. Conceding only one goal after four matches clearly demonstrates the team's disciplined play, good organization, and high concentration.

With the current statistics, Vietnam U17 faces the opportunity to conclude the tournament leading in both important metrics: goals scored and goals conceded. If they continue scoring in the final match, the red-shirt team will surpass Australia to exclusively claim the title of strongest offense. Simultaneously, if they keep a clean sheet or do not concede more than three goals, Vietnam U17 will maintain its position as the team conceding the least goals, thereby affirming comprehensive strength in both attack and defense.

According to the schedule, the third-place match between Laos U17 and Australia U17 will take place at 15:30 on April 24, while the final match between Vietnam U17 and Malaysia U17 is scheduled at 19:30 on the same day. This will be an opportunity for Vietnam U17 to complete their impressive journey with a deserved title.
