Southeast Asian media praises Vietnam U17 for a convincing championship after defeating Malaysia in the final

Southeast Asian media applauds Vietnam U17 following coach Cristiano Roland's squad's 3-0 victory over Malaysia U17 to ascend to the throne at the 2026 Southeast Asia U17 Championship.

On August 24 evening, Vietnam U17 defeated Malaysia U17 3-0 in the final, thereby convincingly securing the 2026 Southeast Asia U17 Championship title. Quy Vuong and Van Duong (with a double) scored to help coach Cristiano Roland's team win the championship.

After the match, the Indonesian newspaper Bola Kompas wrote: "The overwhelming 3-0 victory over Malaysia U17 officially crowned Vietnam U17 as the champion of the 2026 Southeast Asia U17 Championship. This is their third title in history, following 2006 and 2010."

The newspaper from the archipelago nation then described the match with the dominance of Vietnam U17 players. This paper affirmed: "Ultimately, Vietnam U17 achieved a convincing victory and became the new king of the 2026 Southeast Asia U17 Championship."

Meanwhile, the Malaysian publication Makan Bola posted an article with the headline: "Southeast Asia U17 Championship: Vietnam U17 halts Malaysia's dream of winning the title."

"The Malaysia U17 team missed the opportunity to claim the throne at the Southeast Asia U17 Championship after losing to Vietnam U17 in the final. Coach Shukor Adan's players had hoped to replicate the excellent achievement of their predecessors who won the cup in 2019," the Malaysian newspaper wrote.

According to Makan Bola, the goalkeeper of Malaysia U17, Adam Nurfakrullah Mohd Fadli, had to work hard against the shots from Vietnam U17.

Meanwhile, the Malaysian newspaper Bharian wrote: "The Malaysia U17 team could not settle the debt against Vietnam U17 in the 2026 ASEAN U17 Championship campaign, losing 0-3 in the final held in Sidoarjo, East Java moments ago."

"This result means coach Shukor Adan's squad still cannot end a seven-year title drought, since their last coronation in 2019," the Bharian wrote.
