Closing the first leg of the Second Division: Dramatic battle for promotion tickets

On the afternoon of April 25, the first leg of the 2026 National Second Division Football League officially concluded after the matches of round 7 in groups A and B, thus initially outlining the landscape of the promotion race as well as the relegation battle in this season.

In Group A, SHB Da Nang Youth secured a 2-0 victory over Hanoi Police Youth, while Hue shared points with PVF after a 1-1 draw. In the remaining match, Phu Dong Youth lost 0-1 to Ha Tinh Sports Training and Competition Center. These results caused the group's situation to continue fluctuating, especially in the bottom group where Hanoi Police Youth fell to the last position with 3 points after 6 matches, facing considerable pressure ahead of the second leg.

In the leading group of Group A, the competition is fiercely unfolding. Hanoi Youth temporarily occupies the top spot with 12 points, followed closely by PVF with 11 points, while Hue stands third with 9 points. The narrow gap between the teams creates an exciting chase, promising many unpredictable developments in the upcoming stages.

In Group B, Lam Dong continued to maintain stable form by winning 3-0 against Mekong Can Tho, thereby firmly holding the leading position with 16 points after the first leg. In the other matches, Dak Lak overcame Tay Ninh with a 1-0 score, while Truong Giang Gia Dinh defeated Quang Ngai 3-0. These results helped Truong Giang Gia Dinh continue to closely follow the top group, intensifying the heat of the competition for a spot in the final round.

According to the Regulations, the four teams with the best performance after the qualifying round will earn the right to participate in the final round to compete for three promotion spots to the 2026/27 National First Division League. Conversely, the two teams finishing at the bottom will have to drop down to compete in the National Third Division League, making the relegation battle equally tense.

According to the schedule, the second leg of the 2026 National Second Division League will take place from May 6 to June 7. This will be the pivotal phase of the season, where every point carries decisive significance in the race for promotion tickets as well as avoiding relegation.
