Vietnam's 2K striker consistently impresses coach Kim

Nguyen Tran Viet Cuong has been showing excellent form in V-League following the March training session with the Vietnam national team.

Forward Nguyen Tran Viet Cuong is becoming a notable standout for Becamex TP.HCM in V-League 2025/2026, scoring consecutively in recent rounds. This striker has scored 3 goals in just 2 consecutive matches, thereby making a strong impression both at club level and in the eyes of Vietnam national team head coach Kim Sang-sik.

Viet Cuong is one of the new faces summoned by coach Kim Sang-sik to the Vietnam national team during the FIFA Days in March 2026. This is considered a deserved reward for the relentless efforts of the forward under Becamex TP.HCM after a period of stable performance in domestic competitions.

In the match against Malaysia on March 31st, Viet Cuong was given the opportunity to play and had several dangerous situations. Although he hasn't scored for the national team yet, missing some favorable chances, his performance still showed great potential. His intelligent movement, good positioning, and enthusiastic playing spirit helped him gain favor with the coaching staff.

Returning to V-League, this forward quickly proved his worth with explosive form. In round 19, Viet Cuong scored a double against Hanoi FC, helping Becamex TP.HCM create a notable situation against a strong opponent. In round 20, he continued to score in the 1-1 draw with Nam Dinh FC, raising his total goals this season to 6.

That achievement helps Viet Cuong make significant progress in the race for the V-League 2025/2026 Golden Boot. He currently has the same number of goals as Nguyen Hoang Duc and ranks just behind some top scorers. Among Vietnamese players competing in the league, only Do Hoang Hen of Hanoi FC has scored more with 9 goals, currently ranking third overall.

Despite very positive personal form, Viet Cuong hasn't fully enjoyed the joy as Becamex TP.HCM hasn't achieved desired results. The team lost to Hanoi FC 2-4 and then drew with Nam Dinh 1-1 in the two most recent rounds. With only 20 points after 20 rounds, Becamex TP.HCM currently stands 11th in the rankings and must continue striving in this season's relegation battle.
