Manchester United's expected price for Tonali revealed! The player's first choice is Old Trafford, but he may need to push for the transfer himself.

United plan to sign two or three midfielders this summer, with Ederson already locked in as the first acquisition. Should things proceed smoothly, two more could follow. Newcastle's Sandro Tonali has consistently been near the top of United's wish list, and according to Gianluca Di Marzio, the 26-year-old Italy star is Carrick's primary choice.

However, Carrick does not have complete decision-making power in transfers. The Manchester Evening News reports that Sir Jim Ratcliffe's INEOS management team has ended the model where the head coach determines transfer strategy and selects desired players. This is largely due to the shadow cast by former manager Erik ten Hag's signings.

Now officially appointed, Carrick can offer his opinions and suggestions on player acquisitions and assess who the best targets are, but he does not have the final say. Transfer operations are now carried out collectively by a team, which is standard practice for all major clubs.

Many fans hope to see Tonali wearing a United shirt at Old Trafford next season. However, there has been little progress regarding his transfer so far.

It will take more time for United to sign a truly elite midfielder. But the possibility of landing Tonali cannot be ruled out entirely. Compared to the cases of Elliot Anderson and Aurelien Tchouaméni, United's chances of acquiring Tonali are higher. The Daily Mail reports that Nottingham Forest have set a £110 million price tag for Anderson, which is more than Tonali's valuation.

Tonali clearly wants to leave Newcastle for a Premier League powerhouse. If Manchester City sign Anderson, they won't pursue Tonali. In January, Tonali's agent hinted that Arsenal is a strong possibility for his next destination, so it is widely believed that either the Emirates or Old Trafford could be his next home.

After selling Anthony Gordon, Newcastle's financial situation is quite healthy. Now, it may require Tonali himself to push the transfer forward. However, he is unlikely to force a move, as the Magpies protected him well during his suspension.

Newcastle have set a £100 million price tag for Tonali, having paid £60 million to AC Milan for him three years ago. However, Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Newcastle's asking price will not deter United.

United could have up to £300 million to spend this summer, making them fully capable of buying Tonali. It mainly depends on whether the club considers him worth the investment.

According to reports, Tonali himself prefers joining United because he believes he would be more valued and get more playing time at Old Trafford, which he considers crucial. In contrast, Manchester City and Arsenal's primary targets are not Tonali.

It is said that United are prepared to offer between £70 million and £80 million for Tonali. The final price will depend on the negotiating skills of both parties. Jason Wilcox's transfer team remains confident about the Tonali deal.

A source analyzed on "Insider Offside": "United and Ratcliffe have reached a consensus; after signing Ederson, they seem ready to move for Tonali next. Newcastle do not want to sell the player and are demanding at least £100 million in transfer fees."

"However, United have no intention of paying such a high fee. Therefore, it is expected that United will first submit a bid of £70-80 million to test the waters."

Luke Edwards, the Newcastle correspondent for The Daily Telegraph, says that club officials now expect Tonali to leave this summer.

He said: "While this may be painful for fans, they should also prepare for yet another star player's departure. Tonali could also leave before the season starts, although the £100 million asking price will inevitably cause issues for interested parties. However, some within the club are anticipating rather than dreading his exit."

British media report that Tonali's agent team has been working on his transfer. "The Italian international's agents have been recommending him to clubs in England and Europe, hoping to convince someone to make an offer for the 26-year-old," Edwards said. "For Newcastle, the most important thing is the replacement plan. They already know who the club could sign if Tonali leaves. This doesn't mean Tonali will definitely be sold, but they are prepared for that scenario."
