Vietnam national team confronts Timor Leste.

Timor Leste secured a 6-1 aggregate victory over two legs in the ASEAN Cup 2026 play-offs, thereby becoming the first opponent for Vietnam in the group stage.

In this year's tournament, Timor Leste is placed in Group A alongside Vietnam, Singapore, Indonesia, and Cambodia.

This marks the fifth time in history, and the second consecutive occasion, that Timor Leste has participated in the ASEAN Cup (formerly the AFF Cup).

Previously, Timor Leste took part in the tournament in 2004, 2018, and 2020, but was eliminated in the group stage each time.

In their most recent appearance, under coach Simon Elissetche, Timor Leste lost all four group matches: 0-10 to Thailand, 2-3 to Malaysia, 0-3 to Singapore, and 1-2 to Cambodia.

Vietnam U19 eliminated in group stage of Southeast Asian championship.

The final Group C match of the 2026 ASEAN U19 Championship between Australia U19 and Cambodia U19 ended in a 2-2 draw.

This result ended Vietnam U19's hopes of advancing, as they finished behind Cambodia U19 in the ranking of best second-placed teams.

In the semifinals, Cambodia U19 will face Thailand U19, while Australia U19 meets host Indonesia U19.

Vietnam U19 has gone 19 years without winning the Southeast Asian title. In their last appearance in 2024, they also exited in the group stage with four points from three matches.

Vietnam U19 needs to learn essential lessons to prepare well for the 2027 AFC U20 Asian Cup qualifiers, where they are placed in a tough group with Iran U20, Palestine U20, and North Korea U20.

As planned, Vietnam U19 will reconvene after the 2026 National U21 Championship to focus on the crucial campaign in Group C of the 2027 AFC U20 Asian Cup qualifiers, to be held at Viet Tri Stadium (Phu Tho) from August 31 to September 6.

Thai Son Bac holds top spot in national futsal league.

Thai Son Bac continued to assert their status as top title contenders by defeating Tan Hiep Hung HCMC 3-1, while Saigon Titans beat Hanoi 5-1 to keep pace with the leading group.

In the 11th minute, Quang Nguyen fired home accurately after a teammate's cross from the flank, putting Thai Son Bac ahead 1-0.

The visitors' efforts paid off in the 19th minute when Ngoc Viet struck from a tight angle, beating the goalkeeper to level the score at 1-1.

In the second half, Thai Son Bac quickly regained the lead. In the 23rd minute, Thac Hieu's shot deflected off captain Tan Dong's foot, wrong-footing the Tan Hiep Hung HCMC keeper and making it 2-1.

In the 27th minute, Trinh Cong Dai displayed skillful handling before turning and finishing beautifully to seal a 3-1 victory for the capital club.

Center-back Hugo Gomes has officially bid farewell to Cong An Ha Noi (CAHN) after the conclusion of the 2025/26 V-League season.

In the 2025/26 V-League, Hugo Gomes made only 14 appearances and did not score. He was not registered for the final eight matches of CAHN's season.

Hugo Gomes contributed to several memorable achievements of the police club. He helped his teammates win the 2025/26 V-League title, the 2024/25 National Cup, the 2025 Super Cup, and finished as runners-up in the ASEAN Club Championship.
