The Vietnam national team is scheduled to play a friendly match against Myanmar immediately prior to the 2026 ASEAN Cup.

As planned, the Vietnam national team will reconvene starting June 22 in Hanoi. After domestic training, Coach Kim Sang Sik's squad will travel to South Korea for a training camp from July 2 to July 14, where they will play three international friendlies to assess the squad and refine tactical plans.

Following the training camp, the team will return to Hanoi for further practice before playing an international friendly against Myanmar on July 18 at Thai Nguyen Stadium. This match will give the coaching staff a chance to evaluate the squad and finalize last-minute preparations for the 2026 ASEAN Cup.

Today (June 15), head coach Kim Sang Sik announced a list of 28 players called up to the Vietnam national team for the second training camp of 2026, aimed at preparing for international friendlies and the 2026 ASEAN Cup.

The Vietnam national team in this training camp continues to feature naturalized players and players of Vietnamese origin, including Nguyễn Xuân Son, Đặng Văn Lâm, Đỗ Hoàng Hên, along with newcomers Le Giang Patrik, Nguyễn Tài Lộc, and Ngô Đăng Khoa.

Adding players with diverse training backgrounds, strong physiques, and modern football thinking gives the team more personnel options, increases competition in many positions, and enhances the overall squad quality.

In addition, Coach Kim Sang Sik continues to trust the experienced core. Names such as Nguyễn Quang Hải, Nguyễn Hoàng Đức, Đỗ Duy Mạnh, Lê Phạm Thành Long, Đoàn Văn Hậu, Bùi Hoàng Việt Anh, Nguyễn Văn Vĩ, Nguyễn Hai Long, Phạm Xuân Mạnh, Nguyễn Thành Chung, and Trương Tiến Anh are all players who have been with the national team for many years. Their international experience will play a crucial role in maintaining the team's stability during preparations for upcoming tasks.

Among the clubs contributing players to the Vietnam national team, Cong An Ha Noi has six players called up. Even though they are pursuing important goals in the 2026/27 AFC Champions League Elite qualifiers, the reigning V.League champions are still facilitating their players' national team duties, thereby continuing to show their support and responsibility toward the Vietnam national team.

This call-up list also reflects the coaching staff's direction for building a successor pool. Many talented young players who have shown positive development in their club colors have been given opportunities, including Nguyễn Đình Bắc, Nguyễn Ngọc Mỹ, Nguyễn Nhật Minh, Đinh Quang Kiệt, and Trần Trung Kiên.

According to the schedule, the Vietnam national team will kick off the group stage of the 2026 ASEAN Cup with an away match against Timor Leste on July 24. With the current squad and thorough preparation, Coach Kim Sang Sik and his players aim to successfully defend the ASEAN Cup title.
