Former Malaysia national team coach shocks with new European destination

Coach Peter Cklamovski departs the Malaysian national team and is promptly named manager of Salford City in England.

After parting ways with the Malaysia national team, coach Peter Cklamovski quickly found a new career destination by officially entering English football. The Australian strategist was announced as head coach of Salford City, a club competing in League Two.

This news was confirmed just hours after the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) announced the termination of its contract with Mr. Cklamovski, closing a short but turbulent period as the national team's head coach. His departure was part of a broader personnel restructuring plan in Malaysian football.

Salford City is a club with special backing, owned by a group of former Manchester United stars including David Beckham, Gary Neville, and Paul Scholes. The appointment of Cklamovski is seen as a move to elevate the club's competitive ambitions in the lower tiers of English football.

Speaking on the new club's official website, the 46-year-old manager expressed excitement about the upcoming challenge: "I'm facing a fantastic opportunity to create something special, and this is a big challenge. The owners have very high ambitions, the club is aiming for big goals, and that suits me perfectly."

On the other hand, legend Paul Scholes – senior advisor at Salford City – also praised Cklamovski's coaching philosophy. He emphasized: "Peter Cklamovski brings the kind of football we want to see, which is an attractive attacking style. But he doesn't just think about scoring. He also places great importance on defensive ability and always wants his teams to have a clear identity."

Previously, FAM not only parted ways with Cklamovski but also said goodbye to Malaysia U23 head coach Nafuzi Zain along with a series of personnel in the coaching and management staff. This simultaneous change has significantly affected Malaysia's preparation plans for upcoming tournaments.

Nevertheless, the fact that Cklamovski quickly found a new job in England shows that his appeal remains highly regarded in the coaching world. This is also seen as an important turning point, opening a new chapter full of challenges but rich in expectations in the Australian manager's coaching career.
