Thailand's national team will use a young squad for the ASEAN Cup.

Anthony Hudson, the head coach, intends to field a youthful lineup for Thailand's 2026 ASEAN Hyundai Cup campaign.

On June 23, 2026, at 2:00 PM, in the meeting room of the FA Thailand building, the Football Association of Thailand held a meeting regarding the direction of the Thai national team for the 2026 ASEAN Cup (ASEAN Hyundai Cup), scheduled for July-August, as well as the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026 in September-October.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Ekaphol Phonnawee, Secretary-General of the Football Association of Thailand, along with head coach Anthony Hudson and the coaching staff.

After the meeting, Coach Hudson stated: "During the meeting, we discussed the plans for the ASEAN Cup. I must admit that this is a rather complicated period for player selection, as this tournament is not within the FIFA Days and many players need to serve their clubs for pre-season fitness preparation. Therefore, we will definitely try to select the players who are most available and permitted by their clubs to participate in this tournament.

Currently, we have basically planned to call up players for the first training camp on July 14. Between now and that date, we will work with clubs to request player releases to ensure the best possible readiness.

For this squad, most of the players we intend to call up are young, along with some experienced players to support in certain positions. We will try to combine these players in the most balanced way possible. The key goal is to give opportunities to young players.

For this tournament, we will focus on each match one at a time. We always communicate with each other and aim to go as far as possible. We will not put pressure on the players but will help them perform at their best. Of course, many teams are using their strongest lineups and holding training camps abroad. As for us, we will focus on ourselves and prepare well.

In the recent period, I must admit that we may not have performed well. However, that stems from many factors, such as the team not being able to call up many key players and many players lacking match fitness due to a lack of chemistry. That is completely different from when players are constantly playing during the season. I myself have learned a lot and have had the opportunity to work with many players.

Finally, I hope the fans will continue to support the team. I understand that the fans always want our team to play well and achieve success.

I, along with the coaching staff and the players, all want to bring pride to the fans. Most importantly, I hope the fans will cheer for the players, especially the young ones. In my opinion, that is exactly what the players need most."

The Thai national team will gather for the 2026 ASEAN Hyundai Cup starting July 14, 2026. In the group stage, Thailand is in Group B alongside Malaysia, the Philippines, Myanmar, and Laos.
