FIFA supports VFF in developing a strategy for grassroots football in Vietnam

FIFA and VFF convened to evaluate the status and chart a course for advancing community-level football in Vietnam.

On the morning of June 24th, at the headquarters of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), the "FIFA Workshop on Grassroots and Amateur Football Environment Analysis" took place, featuring FIFA experts along with VFF leaders and representatives from specialized units. This event is regarded as a crucial activity to comprehensively assess the current state of grassroots football in Vietnam and to establish development guidelines for the next phase.

Attending the session, FIFA was represented by experts Aris Caslib and Chokey Nima. The VFF delegation included General Secretary Nguyen Van Phu, Deputy General Secretary Dinh Thi Thu Trang, Technical Director Koshida Takeshi, and heads of various professional departments. The involvement of multiple relevant units underscores Vietnam's commitment to systematically and sustainably developing its grassroots football foundation.

During the workshop, FIFA experts presented an analysis report on the amateur grassroots football environment in Vietnam. The report focused on evaluating community participation levels, the organizational system for local football activities, and factors that could influence the future development of grassroots football. These practical data and assessments are seen as a key foundation for formulating long-term development strategies.

In addition to analyzing the current situation, the parties spent considerable time discussing the opportunities and challenges facing grassroots football. With the growing public demand for sports participation, expanding football opportunities for all groups—from children and students to adults—has been identified as a central goal. Solutions related to training, organization, communication, and community engagement were also debated.

According to FIFA's assessment, grassroots football plays a foundational role in a country's football ecosystem. It not only improves public health but also serves as a pipeline for future high-performance football. Therefore, devising an appropriate development strategy will contribute to a cohesive progression from the grassroots to professional levels.

At the conclusion of the meeting, FIFA's representatives affirmed their continued partnership with VFF in developing and implementing grassroots football development programs in Vietnam. The support from the world's largest football organization is expected to help VFF achieve its strategic goals, expand community access to football, and build a solid foundation for the long-term growth of Vietnamese football.
