The leadership of the Vietnam Football Federation paid a visit to encourage U20 futsal goalkeeper Doan Tuan Phong following his knee operation.
On the afternoon of June 24, representatives of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) leadership visited and encouraged national U20 futsal player Doan Tuan Phong, who had just undergone knee ligament surgery. The VFF's timely concern is regarded as a major morale boost for the young goalkeeper in this challenging period of his career.
On behalf of the VFF leadership, Deputy Secretary General Nguyen Minh Chau personally visited Tuan Phong to inquire about his health. He sent encouragement to the goalkeeper from Hanoi Futsal Club, while urging the young player to maintain an optimistic spirit and persevere with his treatment and recovery process in order to return to the field soon.
Tuan Phong unfortunately suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury to his right knee during the match between Hanoi and Sahako in round 5 of the 2026 HDBank National Futsal Championship. The injury occurred after a ball-handling situation in the 14th minute, forcing him to leave the game. Following medical examination and professional assessment, the goalkeeper born in 2006 was recommended for surgery to treat the issue definitively.
Unfortunately, this is not the first time Tuan Phong has faced a major injury challenge. Previously, while with the futsal team Vietnam U19 participating in the 2025 Southeast Asian U19 Futsal Championship in Thailand, he had suffered a ligament injury in his left knee. After a long period of treatment and effort to return to play, the young goalkeeper unfortunately sustained an injury to his other knee.
Nevertheless, those involved in Vietnamese futsal still have great faith in Tuan Phong's resilience. The young goalkeeper is considered one of the most promising talents of Vietnamese futsal thanks to his quick reflexes, strong fighting spirit, and desire to improve. Enduring consecutive serious injuries is certainly a huge challenge, but it is also an opportunity for him to demonstrate his fortitude and determination to overcome adversity.
VFF leadership affirmed that they will continue to closely monitor Tuan Phong's treatment and recovery process, while providing the best possible support to help the young player return to competition soon. With the companionship of professional units and his own determination, the U20 Vietnamese futsal goalkeeper is expected to regain his form soon and continue pursuing his dream of contributing to the national team in the future.
