The Vietnamese midfielder Quang Hải has given some surprising remarks about the national team in the lead-up to the 2026 ASEAN Cup.
Speaking to the media prior to the team's second practice session at the VFF Youth Training Center, midfielder Nguyen Quang Hải stated: "Following a prolonged and fiercely contested V-League season across various competitions, it is entirely natural that a few players are carrying minor knocks and require time to recuperate.
Without a doubt, in the next few training sessions, the entire squad will be back together with all players available.

All the new recruits are highly professional, and everyone is already well-acquainted. Whether during team bonding sessions or casual coffee outings, the mood remains very comfortable.
Naturally, everyone faces their own personal pressures when donning the national team colors. Experienced players like myself will make an effort to integrate and assist our new comrades, ensuring the squad soon evolves into a cohesive and optimal unit.
The scorching sun doesn't just take a toll on the players – even the reporters are feeling exhausted. There's no doubt the heat significantly affects our endurance. Nevertheless, we are determined to adapt and push through so that we can execute the coaches' training regimen effectively on the field.
We still gather as a team to watch World Cup games when the timing works, often in the morning. For later matches, we catch the highlights. Regarding Ronaldo or Messi, everyone has their favorite, and the discussions are always lively and enjoyable."
On the topic of Vietnam's targets, Quang Hải commented: "Our national team always sets its sights on the top prize. That said, we will establish clear goals for each stage, covering both preparation and the actual tournament."
As per schedule, the Vietnam team will continue training in Hanoi until the end of July 1st, after which they will travel to South Korea for a training camp running from July 2nd to July 14th.
Throughout the training stint, the squad will engage in three friendlies against carefully chosen opponents that align with the coaching staff's technical criteria. This will allow them to evaluate their roster and finalize tactical strategies leading up to the 2026 ASEAN Cup.
