The Purple Revolution at Fiorentina

Half of them arrived on loan, but that very fact ensures that the newcomers are all likely to give their best.

Mastantuono is certainly the most prominent name, a typical example of Fiorentina's "go-for-broke" attitude and serious ambition. The fact that the Italian club managed to bring Real Madrid's young attacking talent to Florence has a significance far beyond the player's individual technical value. It shows that Fiorentina wants to return to a position where they can compete in the market with Europe's big clubs. The Mastantuono deal, along with other signings like Dragusin and Atta, confirms that Fiorentina is not inferior in competitions requiring reputation and internal appeal, proving they still have the ability to persuade good, ambitious players.

Positive effects immediately appeared. More than 500 people were at the airport waiting for Mastantuono, while season ticket sales reached 14,000, despite the Artemio Franchi stadium currently having a capacity of only about 22,000 due to renovations. Those numbers show that Fiorentina is not only changing the team but also reviving the fans' confidence. They rose from the disappointment of last season in the most decisive way possible.

With new signings that are both high-quality and highly motivated, new coach Grosso, who naturally wants to prove himself at a more ambitious club than Sassuolo, can smoothly build a team to his liking. The biggest concern at the moment is probably the center-forward position, where Moise Keane has been disappointing with a poor season, and Alberto Gudmundson lacks the expected consistency. Mastantuono's presence, whether as a winger or a number 10 playmaker, will play a key role in the attack's scoring ability.
