Seeding at Wimbledon 2026, Eala makes history.

The number one player in Southeast Asia is still impressing with her rise on the Tour.

Alexandra Eala continues to achieve a significant career milestone as she is officially seeded at Wimbledon 2026. This marks the first time the Filipino player has been included among the top 32 seeds of a Grand Slam, highlighting a major breakthrough after an explosive grass-court season.

Thanks to her impressive recent performances, the reigning SEA Games champion has climbed into the world's top 30 and is the 29th seed at this year's Wimbledon. This accomplishment makes her one of the most outstanding young players in women's tennis ahead of the third Grand Slam of the year.

Additionally, Eala becomes the first player in Philippine tennis history to be seeded at a Grand Slam tournament in the Open Era.

The 2026 grass-court season saw Eala shine. The 21-year-old began by winning the WTA 125 Birmingham title before making a huge impact at the Berlin Open. At the WTA 500 event in Germany, Eala successively defeated a number of well-known opponents, including top stars such as Elena Rybakina and Elina Svitolina to reach the semifinals.

Eala is the 29th seed at Wimbledon this year.

Being seeded will allow Eala to avoid facing any top-32 players in the first two rounds, thereby boosting her chances of advancing deep at Wimbledon. Nevertheless, the challenge for the former Rafa Nadal Academy student remains substantial.

Along with Eala, Emma Raducanu has also received a seeding at Wimbledon this year. The 2021 US Open champion holds the 30th seed following a strong grass-court showing, notably reaching the final of the Queen's Club Championships.

At the top, Aryna Sabalenka is seeded first. Reigning champion Iga Swiatek and former Wimbledon winner Elena Rybakina are also among the leading title contenders.

Meanwhile, several notable names miss out on seeding, most notably 2017 Roland Garros champion Jelena Ostapenko. This is expected to make the women's singles draw at Wimbledon 2026 even more unpredictable.
