OFFICIAL: 8 Clubs to Participate in the VTV9-Binh Dien Volleyball Cup 2026

This year's VTV9-Binh Dien Cup will be held in Tay Ninh from May 15 to May 23, featuring leading clubs from Vietnam and East Asia.

One of the most anticipated tournaments of 2026: The VTV9-Binh Dien Cup has finalized the participation of 8 clubs competing in Tay Ninh from May 15 to May 23.

This year's VTV9-Binh Dien Cup will include 3 foreign guest teams - similar to the most recent season in 2024. The first international team confirmed to participate is Gunma Green Wings - the club where Tran Thi Thanh Thuy played and shone brilliantly in the recent Japanese National League season.

Gunma is among the top 8 strongest women's volleyball clubs in Japan currently. Even though foreign players like Nasya Dimitrova, Olivia Rozanski, and Thanh Thuy are likely no longer with the team, the domestic lineup with Minami Takaso, Momoko Niida, Haruka Yamashita remains very high-quality, promising to be a contender for this year's VTV9-Binh Dien Cup title.

Another very strong guest team is Jiangsu - the reigning runner-up of the Chinese National League. The remaining international club is Suwon (South Korea) - a team that previously participated in the VTV Cup.

The tournament's reigning champion - PFU BlueCats will not be present. Additionally, there were rumors that Creamline Cool Smashers - a top Philippine team would participate, but this did not materialize.

The 5 Vietnamese clubs participating in the VTV9-Binh Dien Cup 2026 are VTV Binh Dien Long An, LPB Ninh Binh, Thong Tin-Dong Bac, VietinBank and Hanoi Tasco Auto, among which Ninh Binh is the tournament's reigning runner-up - losing to PFU BlueCats 1-3 in the final two years ago.

This will be the 15th season of the VTV9-Binh Dien Cup 2026, with the first event held in Long An (old) 20 years ago. The tournament ran continuously in two periods: 2006-2008, 2010-2019 before returning in 2024. Also starting from the 2024 season, the VTV9-Binh Dien Cup will be held biennially.

Thong Tin LVPB (now Thong Tin-Dong Bac) is the most successful team with 3 championship titles, followed by VTV Binh Dien Long An, VietinBank, and Jiangsu (China) - each with 2 titles. The most recent time a Vietnamese representative stood on the tournament's highest podium was in 2016 with VietinBank's 3-1 victory over Jiangsu.

Meanwhile, the most recent time a Vietnamese athlete received the MVP (Most Valuable Player) award of the VTV9-Binh Dien Cup was also 12 years ago with Nguyen Thi Xuan in 2014. Legends Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa, Pham Thi Kim Hue, and the star of the North Korean national team: Jong Jin-sim have all been named for this award twice.
