The 2026 Hung Vuong Cup volleyball tournament is nearing its conclusion, with both the men's and women's finals promising excitement and drama.
After two days of intense and thrilling competition, the four teams participating in the men's and women's events of the 2026 Hung Vuong Cup volleyball tournament held at the Phu Tho Provincial Sports Gymnasium have officially been revealed.
In the women's event, Hanoi Tasco Auto continued their exceptional form, needing only three sets to overcome the reigning runner-up, Thong Tin-Dong Bac. Foreign player Ivana Vanjak and Vi Thi Nhu Quynh remained the offensive leaders, while the trio of newly borrowed rookies: Nguyen Thi Uyen, Nguyen Phuong Quynh, and Dinh Thi Van all made significant impressions.
Particularly with the position of Dinh Van, this setter was a crucial key helping Hanoi overcome difficulties in the third set. The versatility and smoothness in the handling plays of the young athlete from Bac Ninh's roster reminded many Vietnamese volleyball fans of Nguyen Linh Chi from years past.
The opponent for coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team in the final will be HCĐG Lao Cai - the team that overcame VTV Binh Dien Long An in the other semifinal. The tactic of pressuring Tran Thi Thanh Thuy to take one-step passes combined with a solid blocking line featuring the duo Tran Thi Bich Thuy - Ly Thi Luyen proved maximally effective.
Meanwhile, the men's final of this year's Hung Vuong Cup will be a showdown between Border Guard and Ho Chi Minh City Police. Border Guard asserted their strength against Hanoi with a 3-set victory, where setter Pham Van Hiep performed very prominently, completely overshadowing Ly Van Chuong on the other side of the net.
Van Hiep's good form makes the competition for the setter position on the National Team considerably fiercer among the standout names: Pham Quoc Du, Nguyen Van Quoc Duy, Van Hiep, Van Chuong, etc.
For Ho Chi Minh City Police, coach Nguyen Van Hanh and his team excellently overcame The Cong Tan Cang in just three sets, thanks to the outstanding performance of the foreign player pair Ali Haghparast - Martin Licek.
According to the schedule, the men's third-place match and the women's final of the 2026 Hung Vuong Cup will be held on April 25th, while the women's third-place match and the men's final will take place one day later, respectively at 19:00 and 21:00.
