Ho Chi Minh City Police defeats The Cong Tan Cang, advances to the Hung Vuong Cup 2026 final

On April 12, Ho Chi Minh City Police secured a decisive 3-0 victory (25-13, 25-15, 25-23) over The Cong Tan Cang in the first stage of the 2026 National Championship. Today (April 24), the two teams met again in the Hung Vuong Cup semifinals, and the outcome remained largely unchanged.

Ho Chi Minh City Police continued to demonstrate superiority over their opponent, despite The Cong Tan Cang's determined effort. The police volleyball team possesses a balanced roster and slightly higher technical quality.

Their advantage in personnel quality translated into dominance on the court. Ho Chi Minh City Police outperformed The Cong Tan Cang in all aspects: first step, second pass, attacks from positions 2 and 4, blocking, and backcourt defense.

In Set 1, Ho Chi Minh City Police players quickly gained momentum and established a significant point gap, leading 9-4, then 15-8, 21-13, before closing the set with a 25-17 win.

In Set 2, The Cong Tan Cang performed better, creating a fairly balanced contest with Ho Chi Minh City Police in the first half of the set. However, in the latter half, the caliber of the team ranked second in the National Championship after the first stage of this season was displayed.

Ho Chi Minh City Police increased their tempo, and powerful attacks from both wings allowed Coach Nguyen Van Hanh's players to gradually widen the point gap with The Cong Tan Cang, securing another 25-20 victory.

In Set 3, The Cong Tan Cang continued to create a tight contest with Ho Chi Minh City Police. They played a "tit-for-tat" game, leveling the score at 10-10 and 15-15, then scoring consecutively to lead Ho Chi Minh City Police 18-15, 21-18, 23-20. It seemed The Cong Tan Cang might force a fourth set, but Ho Chi Minh City Police once again showed resilience to reverse the course and win 26-24, thus securing a 3-0 overall victory.

Ho Chi Minh City Police advances to the Hung Vuong Cup final and will face their biggest rival, Border Guard MB, for the championship.
