Thai women's volleyball suffers a painful defeat to VNL newcomers, extending their winless streak.

(Volleyball results) - Thailand has only themselves to blame after squandering the opportunity to achieve their maiden victory in this year's VNL, facing debutants Ukraine.

Set 1: Thailand 23-25 Ukraine

Playing at home, Thailand knew they had a great opportunity to defeat Ukraine, the VNL newcomers replacing South Korea. Pornpun and her teammates started fiercely, maintaining a lead well into the second half of the set, until Ukraine found their rhythm with a 5-1 run to surge ahead by 4 points.

Coach Kiattipong's adjustments only helped the hosts level the score at 23-all, after which they lost two consecutive points, suffering a bitter defeat in set 1.

Set 2: Thailand 25-19 Ukraine

Thailand had a tough start to set 2, but from 9-9 onward, the match was entirely controlled by the hosts. The outstanding performance of the trio Thatdao, Sasipapron, and Pimpichaya helped Thailand dominate, creating impressive scoring runs to gradually pull away from Ukraine, thus leveling the match.

Set 3: Thailand 26-28 Ukraine

Thailand can only blame themselves for the loss in set 3. The hosts held the upper hand for three-quarters of the set, and despite being caught up by Ukraine, they were the first to reach set point. However, poor execution at crucial moments cost Pornpun and her teammates dearly.

With just a single set point, Ukraine capitalized successfully to win 28-26, taking a 2-1 lead.

Set 4: Thailand 25-22 Ukraine

It was a must-win set, and the Thai women managed to do it, though not without difficulty. They led Ukraine from the start of the set, but Kiattipong's team allowed their opponents to come back and take a 15-17 lead.

Fortunately, Thailand played more focused to regain the lead. A strong set from Ajcharaporn and Pimpichaya helped the hosts tie the match at 2-2 and force a decisive fifth set.

Set 5: Thailand 10-15 Ukraine

Disastrous! Thailand allowed Ukraine to score six consecutive points, then fell behind by an eight-point margin. This massive collapse left the hosts unable to recover, despite their best efforts. Thailand still hasn't won a match in this year's VNL, remaining second-to-last in the standings, ahead of only the Dominican Republic.

Final result, Ukraine defeats Thailand 3-2 (25-23, 19-25, 28-26, 22-25, 15-10).
